Special funding for Ukraine

The DBU promotes innovative and solution-oriented projects for the protection of the environment with a special focus on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). In addition to projects in Germany, the DBU funds a limited number of international projects, so far primarily in the countries of Central and (South) Eastern Europe (CEE), including Ukraine. International projects funded by the DBU are primarily located abroad; local partners must be substantially involved. Projects are supported within the framework of eleven funding themes and one open-topic area.

Due to the ongoing war in Ukraine, scientists, entrepreneurs and employees in the service sector are working under particularly difficult conditions. The DBU has been providing support here in a variety of ways for several years, both in the project area and in the CEE Fellowship Program with the Ukraine funding initiative. The thematic range extends from nature conservation and landscape development to the circular economy in hospitals and water treatment plants and management.
