International project funding

The DBU promotes innovative and solution-oriented projects for the protection of the environment with a special focus on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). In addition to projects in Germany, the DBU provides limited funding for international projects, so far primarily in the countries of Central and (South) Eastern Europe (CEE). Funding for international projects beyond CEE is possible in individual cases. International projects funded by the DBU have their place of action primarily abroad and local partners must be substantially involved.

Projects are supported within the framework of twelve funding topics as well as an open-topic area. In addition to individual and cooperative projects, the DBU awards scholarships for university graduates as part of its CEE Fellowship Program.

Funding requests for project proposals can initially be uploaded in the form of a short outline via the DBU online application. You can find a form for your sketch here. Detailed information can be found under Criteria for Funding International Projects and in the FAQ. In the event of basic eligibility, you will be invited to submit an application. For this purpose, please use the notes and working aids for the application and project management. We are available for consultation in advance of your application.
