Sustainability at the German Environmental Award Ceremony
Based on our ethical convictions, we are committed to preserving the natural foundations of life: For their own sake as well as in responsibility for present and future generations.
We want to achieve sustainable impact in practice. Through our work, we provide impetus and act as a multiplier. For these reasons, we are committed to making the presentation of the German Environmental Award resource-conserving and environmentally friendly by reducing emissions, avoiding waste and using sustainable alternatives. We attach great importance to social justice and the inclusion of all those involved.
All partners and contractors are actively involved in the continuous improvement of environmentally friendly event implementation.
Award ceremony for the German Environmental Award 2025 in Chemnitz
Certification with the Blue Angel for events is being sought for the German Environmental Award 2025 ceremony in Chemnitz. To this end, a detailed sustainability concept was agreed with all those involved, which will be implemented during the event.
All employees involved in the implementation of the event are trained in sustainable practices and criteria. Through transparent communication and continuous improvement, we want to act as a role model for sustainable events and inspire the event industry.
Sustainable event technology
When selecting our partners for technical implementation, we only choose companies that operate in a particularly sustainable manner. Our two partners L&S and fischerAppelt are particularly strong in this respect.
Our partners have clear sustainability guidelines and are users of the German Sustainability Code. From trained employees and active waste avoidance to the careful use of materials – our partners are experts in the field of sustainable event technology.
- The stage set and the stage carpet are designed for reuse and have been in use for years already
- All the lighting is provided exclusively by efficient LED spotlights and only certified green electricity is used for the entire event
- All textiles and fabric objects used are certified free of harmful substances, durable and recyclable after use
- All wood-based materials used are certified with the BLUE ANGEL, are low-emission and come from sustainable forestry (RAL-ZU 76)
- The entire transport volume from stage to technical equipment is handled using reusable packaging such as flight cases, transport boxes or pallet boxes. Disposable packaging is not used
- All furniture, components and decorative objects have a long service life of at least six events and, just like the electronics we use, are repaired if necessary
- The use of paper is minimized and only recycled paper certified with the BLUE ANGEL is used

Sustainable catering: Preferably regional, seasonal, fair-trade and ecological
The food offered during the reception focuses on regional and seasonal sourcing, fair trade and organic farming.
In addition, emphasis is placed on the careful use of resources.
- Drinks are served exclusively from returnable bottles
- Serving of beverages such as coffee, tea, fruit juices exclusively in organic quality
- High proportion of food in organic quality
- A large selection of delicious vegetarian vegan dishes
- Almost all products are sourced from regional producers who focus on organic products
- Exclusive use of reusable tableware, cups and cutlery
- Separation, collection and disposal of kitchen waste
Mobility: Environmentally friendly to the ceremony
The Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt (German Federal Foundation for the Environment) focuses on environmentally friendly means of transport and promotes their use through targeted information and various offers among its guests.
- The venue is easy to reach; travel time from the train station is only a few minutes.
- Guests at the award ceremony have the opportunity to purchase a train ticket at a reduced price. Information on this can be found in the FAQs.
- The DBU informs its guests to the accessibility by public transport.
- DBU staff travel on the dates relevant to the preparation and implementation of the event by train and/or bus.
- The hotel is usually within walking distance of the venue.
