Blue Bioeconomy

Interdisciplinary college of the DBU’s MOE Fellowship programme

Motivation

Blue bioeconomy is primarily aquatic circular economy and extends our current system boundaries for bioeconomic use from the land (29% Earth surface) to the oceans (71% surface). Aquatic ecosystems are sensitive and not “domesticated”. There are hardly any cultivated landscapes under water. The use, management and disposal must be careful and sustainable. The blue bioeconomy will grow especially in regions with access to natural, large water areas (especially coastal regions), like in Northern Germany … or at the Baltic Sea!

Fellowship

The DBU would like to establish an inter- and transdisciplinary location-independent college on the Blue Bioeconomy. Up to 10 fellowships will be awarded. The general conditions of the MOE Fellowship Program apply to the awarding of Fellowships.
