Educational processes that lead to the active shaping of a sustainable, future-oriented life and economy as well as to participation and action are of particular importance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sustainability communication therefore encompasses more than simply communicating environmental information. As a content-related and institutional cross-sectional task, it is embedded in formal and informal educational processes that enable people to actively participate in the analysis, evaluation and change of non-sustainable development processes. The concept of <strong>education for sustainable development (ESD)<\/strong> formulates the theoretical framework for the acquisition of action and design skills for the great transformation.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Eligibility criteria and content:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The most important criteria for the evaluation of funding applications are <strong>environmental relief potential<\/strong>, <strong>innovation <\/strong>(e.g. new, target group-specific educational formats and methods, new didactic approaches or educational models that can be transferred to other contexts) and <strong>the exemplary nature of <\/strong>the project content presented. Funding will be provided in particular for application-related and practice-relevant approaches, preferably involving an SME and\/or other practice-relevant institutions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The responsible <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbu.de\/en\/about-us\/employees\/organigram\/environmental-communication-and-cultural-heritage-protection-international-funding\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.dbu.de\/ueber-uns\/mitarbeitende\/organigramm\/umweltkommunikation-und-kulturgueterschutz-internationale-foerderung\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">heads of unit in the department<\/a> advise and support thematic education and social transformation projects in all <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbu.de\/en\/promotion\/project-funding\/funding-topics\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.dbu.de\/foerderung\/projektfoerderung\/foerderthemen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">twelve of the DBU&#8217;s funding themes<\/a>. As part of the core funding theme 1 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbu.de\/foerderung\/projektfoerderung\/foerderthemen\/instrumente-und-kompetenzen-der-nachhaltigkeitsbewertung-sowie-staerkung-von-nachhaltigkeitsbewusstsein-und-handeln\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.dbu.de\/foerderung\/projektfoerderung\/foerderthemen\/instrumente-und-kompetenzen-der-nachhaltigkeitsbewertung-sowie-staerkung-von-nachhaltigkeitsbewusstsein-und-handeln\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&#8220;<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbu.de\/en\/promotion\/project-funding\/funding-topics\/sustainability-communication-education-and-evaluation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sustainability communication, education and evaluation<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbu.de\/foerderung\/projektfoerderung\/foerderthemen\/instrumente-und-kompetenzen-der-nachhaltigkeitsbewertung-sowie-staerkung-von-nachhaltigkeitsbewusstsein-und-handeln\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.dbu.de\/foerderung\/projektfoerderung\/foerderthemen\/instrumente-und-kompetenzen-der-nachhaltigkeitsbewertung-sowie-staerkung-von-nachhaltigkeitsbewusstsein-und-handeln\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&#8220;<\/a>, the development of relevant skills and systemic contexts as well as the promotion of awareness and action within the framework of ESD are specifically promoted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>spectrum of<\/strong> content <strong>in funding theme 1<\/strong> is broad and ranges from STEM education to civil society, socio-ecological topics, media, vocational training, training and further education and events to educational measures and consumer education on sustainable lifestyles and food production as well as consumption issues. And all this with a view to the entire education chain. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>As a rule, the following are not eligible:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Artistic projects such as art exhibitions, performances, theater, music and dance projects, video installations, (documentary) films, festivals, etc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Established, regularly recurring specialist and annual conferences, festive and anniversary events of associations, clubs, universities and companies as well as sustainability days, student conferences and symposia<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Establishment of new environmental learning sites<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Nature trails<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Educational projects in the context of regional, state, national and international garden shows<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Public relations campaigns, information dissemination, awareness raising<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Individual gardens as well as so-called world fields<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>School gardens and school and kindergarten redesigns<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Projects aimed at setting up, expanding or redesigning Internet presences\/websites<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Green office concepts, e.g. at universities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Financing of third-party services\/programs at schools, kindergartens, etc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Measures for specialist advice on environmental issues<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Established, regularly recurring exchange programs, school trips and encounter trips<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>As a rule, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbu.de\/en\/promotion\/project-funding\/#application\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reasons for exclusion<\/a> apply to such projects and\/or funding would not correspond to the statutory purpose of the DBU (see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbu.de\/app\/uploads\/Funding-Guidelines.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">funding guidelines<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Funding initiatives:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Special funding initiatives are developed for particularly current and relevant sustainability topics and bundled in corresponding clusters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Funding initiatives:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbu.de\/en\/topics\/funding-initiatives\/qualification-for-the-energy-transition\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.dbu.de\/themen\/foerderinitiativen\/qualifizierung-fuer-die-energiewende\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Qualification for the energy transition<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbu.de\/en\/topics\/funding-initiatives\/transformative-education-for-sustainable-development\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.dbu.de\/themen\/foerderinitiativen\/neue-foerderinitiative-transformative-bildung-fuer-nachhaltige-entwicklung\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Transformative education for sustainable development &#8211;
