Freshwater forcing from Sea Ice melting is shown to slowdown the overturning based on observational data. Hysteresis and phase space diagrams are build from time series data, showing close similarity to model simulations and giving an indication that the AMOC has already passed a tipping point and it\u2019s on the attractor of the \u201coff\u201d state.
