The German Environmental Award honors commitment and achievements that contribute decisively and in an exemplary manner to the protection and preservation of our environment, now and in the future. The award, which is endowed with 500,000 euros, is aimed at individuals whose innovative products and technical process improvements, successful research results or life achievements are in the spirit of sustainable environmental protection. The prize is awarded annually and can be divided between several prize winners. The upcoming award ceremony will take place on 29.10.23 at the Musik- und Kongresshalle Lübeck.

On Sunday, October 30, 2022, the German Federal Foundation for the Environment awarded the German Environmental Award 2022 in Magdeburg.
A symposium on changing environmental topics is held each year before the awards ceremony. There, experts from various disciplines discuss with specialists from DBU projects and present their research results. The theme of the 2022 Symposium was “Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving – Solutions for the Climate Crisis”.
