This programme was authorised in the context of the EU Expansion (Central and Eastern Europe) in December 2004.

The contact people in Romania are Professor Carmen Socaciu and Dr. Dan Cristian Vodnar from the University for Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine (USAMV) in Cluj Napoca.

In September 2009, a number of former fellowship recipients came together in the USAMV Cluj Napoca (Klausenburg) to establish a DBU Alumni Network in Romania (more information here). In addition to the election of Dr. Dan Cristian Vodnar as a chairperson of the network, the goals of the network were defined. The Romanian Alumni Network is the fourth alumni association of former DBU fellowship recipients.
