CEE Scholarship Programme with Poland Mailen Drucken
The DBU Scholarship Exchange Programme with CEE countries offers young environmental scientists from Poland a research stay in Germany.

For 10 years, the Warsczaw Nowicki Foundation served as partner organisation in the programme with young Polish scientists.

Professor Dr. Maciej Nowicki, winner of the German Environmental Award 1996 and head of the foundation which he brought into being, thus supported the university graduates in their research on environmental protection and nature conservation.

Between 1997 and 2011, 226 young Polish scientists enjoyed the fruits of the programme and got a research stay in Germany.

In 2007, DBU special representative Wieslawa Dyki and the network of former Polish scholarship holders - Stowarzyszenie Srodowisko of dla Srodowiska (SdS) - became the Polish coordinators.

Continuing goal is to advance and develop the scholarship holders' wide-ranged expertise in environmental protection and nature conservation.

The research stays focus on significant German-Polish and European topics of environmental protection and nature conservation. The SdS supports the DBU in Poland in spreading the programme and selecting suitable scholarship candidates, and helps to consolidate the network of current and former scholarship holders and to intensify the contacts between Germans and Poles, thus contributing to a socially fertile climate between both countries.

The activities of the SdS are supported by the DBU representative for Poland, Wieslawa Dyki. She coordinates the annual competition in Poland and is contact person for queries about the programme and the written application procedure.
